Collects and Prayers
Collect for the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time
God of creation,
you are revealed in the morning song of Tui, Bellbird and Magpie,
and in the golden evening waves reflecting the setting sun.
You surround us daily.
Open our eyes to delight in your presence,
and activate our hands into caring as you do for all you have made,
that your kingdom may come and your will be done.
Through Jesus Christ our Liberator,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
You have guided generations of faithful people who
have gone before us in St Luke’s-in-the City
We are embracing the challenges and opportunities as we explore our future ministry and mission here in the heart of our city.
We pray you will inspire us to be ‘as Christ in our community’.
Encourage, prepare and equip us for this journey as Christ leads.
Lift our hopes and deepen our faith in what you have in store for us.
Help us to listen well.
to deepen our love
strengthen our unity,
widen our vision.
Energise us in body, mind and spirit for the work before us.
As we journey on may we find in Christ’s hospitality, hope and food for the journey.
In Jesus name we pray.
